AURORA, Ill. (Sept. 12, 2019) – Moved indoors to Vaughan Tennis Center due to inclement weather, the North Central College women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday at the hands of defending College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) champion Augustana College by a 7-2 final.

The Cardinals (5-1, 3-1 CCIW) fell behind 2-1 after doubles play, as Augustana (1-0, 1-0 CCIW) scored wins at No.2 and No. 3, but Hannah Hougland and Alaina Kanthaphixay remain unbeaten this season at the No. 1 position, taking down Zeana Badawi and Lauren Oda.

Heading into singles play, the Vikings wasted no time in clinching the match win, taking each of the No. 1, 6, 3 and 5 positions in straight sets.  Kanthaphixay was the lone bright spot for North Central in singles play, scoring a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Badawi at the No. 2 spot.

North Central wraps up a string of five-straight CCIW matches on Monday, Sept. 16, traveling to Chicago, Illinois to take on the Vikings of North Park University, scheduled for 4 p.m. at the North Park Tennis Courts.
