KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Sept. 14, 2019) - After conceding an early goal, the North Central College men's soccer team (3-3) was unable to net a goal as they fall to Kalamazoo College (3-1-1), by a score of 1-0.

Only seven minutes into the game, Travis Barclay crossed the ball to Ben Meschke who headed it into the back of the net to give the Hornets an early lead. Kalamazoo recorded six more shots in the first half, but Cardinal goalkeeper Marco Soto stood strong and held the Hornets to the one goal.

The Cardinals came out firing in the second half as they recorded seven shots (four on goal), but were unable to find the back of the net as North Central remained scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Jack Fairwood led the way for the Cardinals as he took three shots, one being on target. As a team, North Central tallied 11 shots, seven of which were on goal. Alexis Flores also put two shots on goal, but was unable to put one in the back of the net as Ellis shutout the Cardinals to secure the win for Kalamazoo.

Soto finished the game with three saves, all coming in the first half, as he falls to 3-3 on the season. Ellis posted seven saves in the game for Kalamazoo to improve his record to 1-1.

North Central visits Dominican University on Wednesday as they look to get back into the win column. Game time is set for 4:00 PM in River Forest, Ill. at the West Campus Field.
