WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 21, 2019) – Excelling in a field that featured two nationally-ranked foes, the North Central College men's cross country team landed seven of its runners in the top-15 on the way to victory at the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational, held Saturday at St. James Farm.

The Cardinals tallied 29 points on their way to victory, with the No. 3-ranked Washington University (Mo.) taking second-place with 49 points, followed by the No. 14-ranked Chicago University with 52 points. The hosts Thunder collected 152 points to finish fourth and fellow College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) institution Carroll University took fifth with 159 points.

Matt Osmulski and Chicago's Ryan Cutter took turns leading the pack during the 8-kilometer race, with Cutter ultimately winning the race in a time of 25 minutes and 18.1 seconds. Osmulski (25:19.7) hung on for second, while a late surge saw Gabe Pommier (25:23.1) claim third-place. The Cardinals' pack of Thomas Rohr (25:33), Nick Licari (25:34.2) and Alec Buetel (25:36.2) was next through the line for a 7-8-9 finish.

Not far behind, Bjorn Shroda (25:50), Brendon Sebastian (25:51)  and Campbell Koch (25:53)finished 12th, 13th, and 14th, respectively. Matt Boelke (26:01) and Kyle Bell (26:04.1) rounded out the team's top-10 by finishing 20th and 21st.

The first-ranked Cardinals compete in the Brissmann-Lundeen Invitational, hosted by Augustana College, on Oct. 5.
