Lake Forest, Ill. (Sept. 21, 2019) – Winning their fourth game of the season, the North Central College men's soccer team defeated Lake Forest College 1-0, thanks to a
Spencer Wiese goal, late in the second half.
The defense posted their second straight shutout as Cardinal goalkeeper
Marco Soto saved five Forester shots in the first half. Offensively, North Central took five shots, two of which were on goal in the scoreless first half.
The Cardinals offense looked to give North Central the lead throughout the second half. In the 71
st minute, Andrea Raaen found
Spencer Wiese for the go-ahead goal to give the Cardinals the lead, 1-0. Soto made four more saves as he records his third shutout of the season to secure the North Cental win.
Austin Lombardi posted three shots, two on goal as he led North Central in shots, followed by
Alexis Flores,
Elmer Eng and Wiese who each recorded two shots.
Soto improves to 4-3-1 on the season as he made nine saves in the game. Lake Forest goalkeeper Jan Roessler moves to 2-4-1 on his year as he stopped five Cardinal shots.
North Central begins College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play on Saturday as the Cardinals travel to Millikin University. The game is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. at Frank M. Lindsay Field.
