GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Sept. 21, 2019) - Looking to get back on the winning track before College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play begins next week, the North Central College women's soccer team struggled to get anything going against Calvin University on Saturday, dropping the contest by a 2-0 final.
The Knights (2-5-1) overpowered the Cardinals for most of the contest on both sides of the ball, holding the Cardinals to eight shots on the day with only two of them on goal. Calvin found opportunities early and often, shooting 17 times with 10 on goal. The first score of the game came in the 40th minute as Kayla Beebe scored with the assist coming from Jessica Paulson. Beebe added her second goal of the contest after the half in the 53rd minute, this time on an assist from Elizabeth Redfield to make the game 2-0.
Madison Lockard was credited with the loss for the Cardinals, giving up both goals and saving eight shots.
Angel Biondo came on in relief and played 31 scoreless minutes while also saving the one shot she faced.
The Cardinals (4-4-1) turn their focus to CCIW play next weekend with a trip to Millikin University on Sept. 28. Click
