KENOSHA, Wis. (Sept. 6, 2019) – Sending a partial squad to compete against a mix of programs from all Divisions, the North Central College men's cross country team placed three runners in the top-15 for a fourth-place finish at the Wisconsin-Parkside Vic Godfrey Invite on Friday.
The Cardinals' freshmen stepped up with the team's top runners staying back, led by
Kyle Bell who finished the 8-kilometer course in 26:29.3 for ninth-place overall. Behind him,
Julian Higueros (26:37.4) and Mathew Jett (26:37.5) finished 13th and 14th, respectively.
Connor Riss (27:46.6) and
Marat Schatz (27:49.6) also finished together in 31st and 32nd, respectively.
Braden Nicholson clocked a time of 28:22.4 to finish 42nd, followed by
Matt Laws (28:49.5) in 47th.
The University of Chicago won the race with 25 points, followed by the hosts Rangers with 68 points and Wisconsin-Oshkosh with 73 points, barely edging out North Central (77 points) for third place. Behind the Cardinals, Wisconsin-Greenbay took fifth-place by totaling 160 points.
North Central splits its squad on Sept. 13, competing at the Illinois State University Invitational and Aurora University Spartan Classic.
