NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 3, 2019) - Continuing their hot start to the season, the North Central College men's soccer team recorded an overtime goal off of the head of
Elijah Larson to secure a 2-1, victory.
The Knights of Carleton got out to an early lead due to a goal in the 33rd minute by Marco da Cunha (assisted by Brennan Johnson) which hit off of the crossbar and bounced into the net. They took that 1-0 lead into halftime.
North Central came out of the half strong and scored a quick goal to tie up the game, 1-1. Andy Kristiansson found
Alexis Flores who finished off the goal in the 57th minute. the Cardinals took eight more shots in the second half alone, but the Knights stood tall and forced an overtime period.

Elmer Eng and two North Central corner kicks,
Austin Lombardi found
Elijah Larson on a free kick in the 94th minute. Larson rose up and headed the ball into the back of the net to win the game for the Cardinals.
North Central out-shot Carleton 15-4, who came into the game with 77 shots in just two games. Five of the shots tonight were on goal for the Cardinals, where Carleton had just the one.
The Cardinals' defense stood strong as goalkeeper
Marco Soto didn't need to record a single save to earn his third win of the season.
North Central plays again on Sunday as they host Rhodes College at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11:00am
