Continuing their early season success, the North Central College women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play with a 8-1 victory over Illinois Wesleyan University on Friday at Nike Park.

The Cardinals (4-0, 2-0 CCIW) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after doubles play, as Ellie Gallagher and Yaitova Spiegel were the first to finish at the No. 3 position, taking down Autumn See and Sydney Rowley, 8-2.

At the No. 1 spot, Hannah Hougland and Alaina Kanthaphixay cruised to a 8-1 win over Rebecca Rochacz and Ashley Mohr, before Katie McGraw and Linsy Jante were victorious by an identical 8-1 score over Alessia Girardin and Caitlyn Smith at the No. 2 spot.

Needing just two win in singles play to clinch the match win, the Cardinals wasted no time as Hougland made quick work of Rochacz in straight 6-0 sets at No. 1, while Morgan House delivered the clinching win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over See at No. 5.

Gallagher continued the winning ways with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Andrea Zulawski at No. 6, while McGraw defeated Mohr in straight 6-3 sets at the No. 3 spot.  The Titans (0-1, 0-1 CCIW) avoided the shutout with a win at No. 2, before Jante closed out the scoring with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 comeback win over Smith at No. 5.

North Central is back in action tomorrow morning, playing host to Millikin University at 10 a.m. at the Benet Academy Tennis Courts in Lisle, Illinois.
