CHICAGO, Ill. (Jan. 11, 2020) - Traveling to the Illinois Institute of Technology the North Central College men's and women's swimming & diving team came away with one victory, that being in the women's 200-yard medley relay.
The women fell by a final score of 34-105 while the men lost 26-166 to the Scarlet Hawks.
The team of Caroline Canfield, Marissa Hoppe, Amy Feltz, and Savannah Catalano took first place with a time of 2:11.20 in the 200-yard medley relay. Catalano earned second place in the 50-yard freestyle by posting a time of 30.58. In the 500-yard freestyle, Canfield placed second with a total time of 7:33.23.
Feltz finished in third place for the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:18.46. She also earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle event by recording a time of 59.40.
On the men's side, Nick Snow earned a third place finish in the 100--yard freestyle as he recorded a time of 56.93. In the 100-yard butterfly, freshman Ben Laurich took home a third place finish by posting a time of 1:03.90. Nick Mielke finished the 500-yard freestyle in 5:55.03 to take third place in that event.
Austin Blaser finished in fourth place in both the 50-yard freestyle (23.56) and in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.01). Cameron Teel also secured two fourth place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.36) and in the 400-yard individual medley (5:03.75).
The Cardinals welcome Illinois College to Merner Fieldhouse as they host their only home meet of the season on Jan. 18th at 1:00 pm.
