CCIW Release
Jan. 14, 2020 — North Central College men's wrestler
Marc Fleenor has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week following a 6-0 run last week at the 141-pound weight class. The CCIW announced its latest selections on Tuesday.
Fleenor started the week on Jan. 7 when he recorded a pin just two minutes and twenty-two seconds into his match with Elmhurst's Josh Lawson—a 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship qualifier—to aid the Cardinals in their 46-0 victory over the Bluejays.
The Plainfield-native then won five straight matches at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals, held Jan. 10-11 in Louisville, Ky. Fleenor earned a 12-2 major decision in North Central's opening victory over Luther College, adding a 10-3 decision over seventh-ranked Baldwin Wallace University's Tanner McHugh and a victory by forfeit in the team's 40-9 rout of Westminster College (Mo.). He found his second pin of the week against Millikin's Sean McKenna as North Central picked up its third CCIW shutout of the season, before closing the weekend with a 7-2 decision over Jason Geyer from 14th-ranked New York University.
Fleenor improved to 17-5 on the year with six pins. He joins fellow seniors
Ian Mullen (Nov. 19) and
Anthony Rink (Dec. 24) as North Central's CCIW weekly award recipients from the season.
North Central travels to the University of Chicago on Jan. 15 for a dual meet against the Maroons, set to begin at 7 p.m.
