Voter Information - 2020 Election

Oct. 13, 2020 -
The North Central College women's basketball team has been taking continuous strides to become more engaged with regard to voting this upcoming election. The Cardinals have 100 percent of their program registered to vote, looking to set a positive example of civic engagement for other teams at the College and beyond.

Head coach Maggie McCloskey-Bax initiated a discussion with the team early in the academic year about what they felt they could do to make a change in the world, and voting was determined to be the best place to start.

When talking about how this has unified their team, McCloskey-Bax stated, "they understand that, especially this year, it is about more than just basketball. It's about being strong women who continue to better themselves and their communities.

"We don't have practices or meetings or anything scheduled on Election Day. I'm encouraging our team to go vote that day, and they're welcome to work the polls as well to give them an opportunity to feel more engaged with this election."

Senior Page Desenberg is also proud of everything her team is doing with staying informed. They hope the example they have set will cause a ripple effect throughout the rest of the athletic department and elsewhere on campus. "I am extremely proud," Desenberg said. "We are an all-women's team, down to the coaches, who are 100% registered and that is just so cool."
