CCIW Press Release
Feb. 4, 2020 - North Central College women's track and field student-athlete
Alexandra Draves has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Field Athlete of the Week for Jan. 27-Feb.2, earning the distinction for the first time in her collegiate career. The CCIW announced this week's award winners Tuesday.
Draves was honored for her performance in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Classic on Saturday, where she placed fourth in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 54 feet, six inches, which outdid her previous personal best by nearly 18 inches. The effort ranks Draves fourth in the CCIW this season and 21st nationwide among NCAA Division III competitors in the event. She moves up to No. 2 in the program's history as well, trailing only the school-record mark of 57'2" set by Kayla Etherton '17 in 2017.
Draves is the second Cardinal to earn CCIW Field Athlete of the Week honors this season. Jumper
Kelsey McLaurin was so recognized on Jan. 21.
The Cardinals host the NCC Invitational on Saturday at Al B. Carius Track, which is the first of three straight home meets. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Click
