FOREST GROVE, ORE. (Mar. 6, 2020) - Recording their first shutout of the 2020 season led by a record evening from Christina Truver on the defensive side of the field, the North Central College women's lacrosse team won their fourth consecutive contest to begin the year, taking down Pacific University 19-0 on Friday evening.

The Cardinals took the game by storm, with the score only remaining tied for one minute, one second before Madeline McHugh began the outpour of North Central goals on an unassisted tally for her team-leading 15th goal on the season. With three more minutes running off the clock came two more goals by the visiting Cardinals, with Grace Steiner and Tanya Czosek scoring on assists from Madeline McHugh and Annabelle Steiner.

As the clock wound down on the first half clock, the Cardinal lead grew larger, with the undefeated Cardinals putting the result of the game in no question on their way to a 12-0 lead before the half. Grace Steiner recorded three goals in the first 30 minutes of play to lead the team with Madeline McHugh and Truver adding two of their own in the first.

With the pace slowing in the second half but the pressure still being applied, the Cardinals managed seven more goals to grow the lead to 19 before the final buzzer sounded.

The Cardinals outshot the host Boxers by a 32-6 margin while also controlling the defensive side of things, causing 29 turnovers in the game.

Truver highlighted the defensive effort with nine caused turnovers for the Cardinals, tying a four-year old record in the category. She also controlled two ground balls while adding her two goals and two assists to complete her balanced effort on the night.

The Cardinals scoring effort was fluid, with Annabelle and Grace Steiner, McHugh, and Jessica Deetjen tying for the team-lead in goals with three a piece.

Abigail Widd had four saves in her first shutout of her career and fourth win on the season.
