Chicago, Ill. (Oct 17th, 2021) - Looking to get back in the win column, the North Central College women's soccer team had to go to double overtime to get their win against North Park University, 4-3.

A slow start found the Cardinals down 2-0 within the first 20 minutes of game play against the Vikings despite out shooting the Vikings 8-4 during the first half of game play. 

Head coach Andrew Gamarra gave his team the halftime speech they needed to hear to light a spark within to get the game turned around and to keep their chances of hosting a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) tournament game alive.

First, Erin Jaskierski was in the right place, at the right time as she found the back of the net 8 minutes into the second half. Less than a minute later, scrum in front of the net allowed Elle Sutter to put one in the back of the net to tie the game at 2 a piece. 

The second half surge wouldn't stop there though as Sarah Andrey gave the Cardinals the lead as she scored off a pass from Kily Egan to make the score 3-2. 

Unfortunately with 20 seconds left in the half North Park would score again to send the game into overtime. The Cardinals would head to their fourth overtime game of the year against the Vikings. 

In the 105th minute of play, the Cardinals leading goal scorer would find the back of the net for the second time of the night as Sutter propelled the women's soccer team to victory in double overtime.

The Cardinals improve to 9-5-1 (4-1-0) on the season and return to action October 23rd as they travel to Decatur, Illinois to take on the Millikin Big Blue at 2 pm.
