Wheaton, Ill. (Oct 27th, 2021) - The North Central women's soccer team traveled to Wheaton College and for the first time in program history beat the Thunder 2-1 with late game heroics by Aly Crum in the 79th minute of play.

Surrendering a goal earlier on to the Thunder, the Cardinals found themselves in an early hole to Wheaton College 1-0. The women's soccer kept the pressure on the Thunder, answering back with a goal of their own in the 27th minute. Elle Sutter rifled a shot on Lauren Ketchum and before Ketchum could secure it, Katie Huey put it in the back of the net to tie the game up at one.

The rest of the half would go quiet for both teams, but the Cardinals out shot the Thunder 12 to nine in the first half. Riley Lindsey made two saves in the first half to help preserve the tie.

With it being knotted up at one to start the second half, the women's soccer team kept their foot on the gas controlling the ball for the majority of the second half.

In the 50th minute and 52nd minute of play Crum and Elle Sutter both missed opportunities to give the Cardinals the lead as Ketchum made saves on their shots.

Crum would get another shot on Ketchum as she thundered a shot past her in the 79th minute of play to give the Cardinals the lead and ultimately the win over the Thunder for the first time in program history.

The Cardinals improve to 10-6-1 overall and 5-2 in conference play on the season and return to action October 30th as they host Carroll University with a game time set for 12pm.
