Naperville, Ill. (Oct 30th, 2021) - The North Central women's soccer team closed out their regular season with a 4-1 victory over the Carroll University Pioneers and secured the third seed in the College Conference of Illinois Wisconsin (CCIW) tournament, which will begin on Wednesday.

In the 24th minute of play Kily Egan rifled a shot past the Pioneer goalie as Sarah Andrey dished Egan a pass to set her up nicely to give the Cardinals the early 1-0 lead.

Right before half, in her last regular season game inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, Senior defender Mady Schmidt scored her first career goal in the 42nd minute of play to give the Cardinals the 2-0 advantage.

During the first half, Freshman goalkeeper Riley Lindsey faced three shots, saving all of them.

After surrendering one goal to the lost Pioneers, the Cardinals answered with two of their own. First, Andrey scored in the 75th minute of play to bring the Cardinal lead back to two goals. Then, in the 81st minute Sam Schutte iced the game after receiving a pass from Alaina Kuhn to put the game out of reach.

The win marks a program record, as it is the most wins in a season for the women's soccer with 11. The previous mark was 10 set by the 2009 women's soccer team.

The Cardinals improve to 11-6-1 overall and 6-2 in conference play. The Cardinals will travel to Bloomington, Illinois on Wednesday to take on Illinois Wesleyan in the semifinal game of the CCIW Tournament.
