NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 3, 2021) - Continuing their hot start, the North Central College women's tennis improves to 8-0 after taking down Augustana College 9-0 on Sunday morning inside of Naperville Tennis Club.
Extending their career doubles win record to 58,
Alaina Kanthaphixay and
Hannah Hougland beat the Vikings No. 1 doubles team, 8-2.
Kaeli Smashey and
Natalie Bassett downed Lauren Oda and Grace Rider 8-0 at No. 2 doubles while the tandem of
Nina Patience and
Sydney Sawyer won 8-1 to sweep doubles play.
In singles play, Smashey, Hougland, and Bassett all earned wins at the No 1-3 positions respectively. Kanthaphixay earned her seventh individual win of the year while
Kayla McSweeney moved to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mia Reese. At the No. 6 position,
Sjana Henderson earned a 6-0, 6-1 win to secure the Cardinals 9-0 sweep.
North Central hosts Elmhurst on Saturday morning looking to stay unbeaten and earn their sixth conference win. The match is set to begin at 9 AM.
