WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 30, 2021) – The North Central College men's cross country team monopolized the top-10 positions at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship meet as it produced a low score of 18 points to secure its 47th-consecutive CCIW Championship crown.

The Cardinals, in their dominant fashion, separated themselves from the nine-team field early on in the eight-kilometer course placing seven runners in the top-10.

Gabe Pommier stormed through the field with ease to take the individual title finishing in a time of 24 minutes and 32.9 seconds and extending the program's streak to 11-consecutive CCIW Individual Champions. Behind him was Matt Boelke (24:51.6) who took second, while Julian Higueros (25:04.8) took third.

Freshman, Colin Kachlic (25:14.7) turned in a 16-second personal best to place fifth, earning him recognition as the CCIW's Newcomer of the Year as he was the top freshman finisher among all teams. Connor Riss (25:15.4) followed suit with a season's best performance to place seventh. Kyle Bell (25:18.3) showed his grit with a 50-second season's best performance to finish 9th. Max Svienty's (25:21.0) 28-second personal best placed him 10th to round out the All-CCIW First Team.

Drew Guimond (25:45.7) finished 13th while Jonathan Olenek (25:52.4) finished 16th, both earning All-CCIW Second Team honors.

Augustana College's 75 points were the closest contention for North Central, followed by Millikin University with 86 points, Carthage Collge with 86 points, and Carroll University's 136 points rounded out the top-five team finishes. 

Coaches, Frank Gramarosso, Al Carius, and their staff were honored with the CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year Award. 

The Cardinals continue Championship Season on Nov. 13 when they head to Rock Island, Ill. once more this season for the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championship.
