Naperville, Ill. (Oct 6th, 2021) - North Central College women's soccer team improves to 3-0 in conference play with a late goal by
Katie Huey to lift the Cardinals past the Augustana College Vikings.
The Vikings would get on the board first as Lexi Dominguez connected with Kayla Garcia for the goal.
Augustana would hold this lead into half as the Cardinal defense tightened up. Then, after halftime, The Cardinal offense went on the attack.
After a failed attempt to clear the ball in the 74th minute of play by Augustana, Olivia Hurt lofted a shot on goal that almost looked like it would go over, but just made it inside the net to tie the game up at one goal a piece.
Shortly after Hurt's goal, the Cardinal offense was back on the attack as Katie Huey received a pass from Olivia Hurt to give the Cardinals the lead with just over six minutes remaining in the game.
The women's soccer team would be able to control the ball the last six minutes of play and secure the win in front of the home crowd.
The Cardinals improve to 8-4-1 (3-0-0) on the season and return to action October 13th as they host Illinois Wesleyan University. Game is set to start at 7:00 pm.
