Women's Soccer Honored with CCIW Selections

2021 CCIW All-Conference Women's Soccer Teams

Nov. 2nd, 2021 - The North Central College women's soccer team set a program record with five players named to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) All-Conference Team along with winning Newcomer of the Year. 

Elle Sutter earned 1st All-Conference honors in her first season playing for the women's soccer after playing in 18 games where she started in 12 and scored eight goals and three assists. Ellie Lochbaum also earned 1st honors by starting every single game this year for the Cardinals while also logging over 1,495 minutes during the season, and helped anchor a defense that only gave up 1.23 goals per game (GPA). Kaitlyn Cannon also earned 1st team honors along with Sutter and Lochbaum by playing in all 18 games and starting 17 of them. Cannon also collected three goals and four assists on the season. 

Kily Egan and Katie Huey were selected to the CCIW All-Conference 2nd for their efforts this season. Egan played in all 18 games and started in 17 of those games and scored six goals and two assists. Huey played in 18 games and started in 17 while scoring two goals for the Cardinals. 

Riley Lindsey won Newcomer of the Year in the conference by starting in nine games and playing in 11. On the season Lindsey gave up an average of 1.47 goals on the year and only gave up 15 goals. Lindsey played a total of over 900 minutes on the season. 

Mady Schmidt, a senior from Springfield, Ill., was the North Central recipient of the RESPECT Award. RESPECT Award recipients distinguish themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture.

The Cardinals will face the Illinois Wesleyan Titans on Wednesday at 7pm as they travel down to Bloomington, Illinois for the semifinal game of the CCIW Tournament.
