HOLLAND, Mich (Feb. 20, 2021) - Competing in their first away contest of the season, the North Central College women's tennis team used four wins in singles play to secure their second victory of the season, this time defeating Hope College 5-4.

Starting the day with doubles, the tandem of Mikayla Edquiban and Sydney Sawyer found themselves on the winning side of an 8-4 match, while Hope won the No.1 and No. 3 doubles matches.

After falling behind 3-1 in the contest following Hope's win at No. 1 singles, the Cardinals knew they needed to rally to come away victorious. Edquiban rolled 6-4, 6-4 in two sets to give North Central momentum. Following another Hope win at No. 2 singles, Sawyer (No. 5) and Nina Patience (No. 6) tied the match up at four a piece. Alaina Kanthaphixay won her match at No. 3 singles in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-1) to secure the win for North Central.

The Cardinals host Lake Forest College on Saturday at Five Star Tennis in Plainfield. The match is set to begin at 3:30 PM.
