Box score

March 13, 2021 - Getting off to a 3-0 lead in the first period mattered to be the difference in today's contest as the Cardinals beat the Aurora University Spartans for the first time in program history.

Coming of a stellar performance from Wednesday night's win over Benedictine University, the Cardinals picked up where they left off and opened up today's game against the Spartans with three straight goals. The Spartans would momentarily grab the lead from the Cardinals in the 2nd period by a score of 6-5, but that would be the last time the Spartans saw the lead in this game, as the Cardinals answered with four straight goals after that and never looked back.

Nick Rubino, Tom Eberhardt, and Riley Bachinski all netted four goals on the afternoon, while teammate Jack Moran contributed 3 goals to the team score. The other goal scored on the afternoon came from Anthony Zowin. Rubino, Scott Allgood, and Jack Moran also added two assist each in their efforts in the game against the Spartans.

Jake Allgood came up big when it mattered in today's contest as he made 11 saves and improved his record to 3-0 on the season in goal. Steven Faux and Evan Lilga collected 3 groundballs each on the day. Jacob Ray went 14-31 on face offs and won key face offs late in the game to control the ball from the Spartans to seal the win.

The Cardinals (3-0) return to action, Wednesday night as they host the University of Concordia of Chicago.
