LISLE, Ill. (Mar. 27, 2021) – The North Central College women's tennis team cruised to its second-straight 9-0 win on Saturday, taking down North Park University at Benet Academy Tennis Courts in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) dual.
Opening the afternoon with doubles play,
Sydney Sawyer and
Sjana Henderson started the scoring with a 8-0 shutout over Emma Trais and Acacia Doughty at the No. 3 position.
Kaeli Smashey and
Linsy Jante followed suit with an identical 8-0 shutout of Hannah Rosenbaum and Hannah Dickinson at the No. 2 spot, while
Hannah Hougland and
Alaina Kanthaphixay completed the doubles sweep with a 8-4 victory over Lisa Viuhkonen and Patrycja Miazek at No. 1.
Taking a 3-0 lead into singles play, Henderson increased the Cardinal lead with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Doughty at the No. 6 position, before the Cardinals rattled off four-straight 6-0, 6-0 shutouts by Jante at No. 4,
Katie McGraw at No. 5, Smashey at No. 1 and Sawyer at No. 3.
Hougland closed out the afternoon at the No. 2 position, scoring a 6-3, 6-3 win over Miazek.
North Central (5-2, 2-0 CCIW) continues the CCIW slate on Thursday, Apr. 1, hitting the road to Millikin University with matches slated at Fairview Park Tennis Complex at 2:30 p.m.
