Box Score

Mar. 6, 2021 - An overwhelming first-half scoring binge led the North Central College men's lacrosse team to a comfortable victory over a rugged opponent in the Cardinals' 2021 season opener, as they took down Milwaukee School of Engineering, 13-5, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

North Central jumped in front, 9-3, in the first half, permitting the Raiders a single shot attempt in the first period, and recorded its most decisive victory over MSOE in four all-time meetings.

Nick Rubino opened the scoring for the Cardinals with a goal less than two minutes after play began. Riley Bachinski added a goal and Jack Moran scored two more as the hosts led, 4-0, before the Raiders (0-3) broke up the shutout with Kyle Krueger's goal early in the second quarter. North Central extended its lead to 9-3 by halftime, with Tyler Utter capping off the second period with a score off an assist from Connor Holderness with just 1.6 seconds on the clock.

Rubino finished with a game-high five goals, the sixth-highest single-game total in the Cardinals' history. Jacob Ray won 12 of 19 faceoffs and collected eight ground balls, while Steven Faux caused four turnovers.

North Central hosts Benedictine University (2-1) on Wednesday. Play is scheduled to get under way at 7:00 p.m.
