Apr. 19th, 2021 - Playing just the nightcap of a doubleheader against Wheaton College, the North Central College softball team secured their 13th win of the season on a wet and cool Monday afternoon at Ruth Leedy Field.

Jaime Smith began the scoring as she singled and stole second in the bottom of the first inning. Following a Breanna Adams walk, Talia Torosian hit a two-out RBI single giving the Cardinals an early 1-0 lead.

In the top of the second inning, Adams pitched around runners on second and third to keep the Thunder scoreless. Torosian added to her RBI total in the third inning as she hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring home Emily Miller. Adams also scored on the play thanks to a Wheaton error as North Central held a 3-0 advantage.

Piling on more insurance runs, Miller hit a two-run double to plate Katie Del Re and Smith before Dakota Novak used a sacrifice fly to score Miller. Both teams tallied a run in the sixth inning as Del Re scored her second run of the contest while Smith built upon her already impressive day with an RBI single. The Cardinals improved to 13-12 and 9-10 in conference play by beating Wheaton, 7-1.
Adams threw her sixth complete game of the year by earning her fourth win. She gave up eight hits while only allowing one run and striking out a Thunder batter in the process.
