CCIW Press Release
Apr. 20, 2021 – For the second time this season, North Central College baseball's
Luke Lamm was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Pitcher of the Week, released by the conference on Tuesday.
Lamm improved to a CCIW-leading 6-0 on the season after tossing a complete-game shutout on just 99 pitches in North Central's 7-0 win over Carthage College on Apr. 18, scattering five hits, all singles, while striking out six. The Cardinals pitching staff shut out the Firebirds in all three games of the weekend series, totaling 28 straight innings without allowing a run.
Lamm leads the Cardinal staff in wins, innings pitched (49 1/3) and strikeouts (50), while sporting a miniscule 0.91 earned run average and has held opposing lineups to a .178 batting average on the season.
This marks the second weekly award for Lamm this season, also earning Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 9, and is the fourth overall award for North Central as
Ryan Behling earned the award on Mar. 16 and
Rob Marinec was named Hitter of the Week on Mar. 9.
North Central (19-5, 13-3 CCIW) holds a half game lead over Millikin University atop the conference standings and returns to play on Wednesday, Apr. 21 with a 5 p.m. first pitch at Wheaton College's Pfund Stadium.
