March 17, 2021 - The North Central College Cardinals men's lacrosse team fell to 6-1 (0-1) on the season in a lopsided 21-12 loss at the hands of Illinois Wesleyan University Wednesday night in Bloomington, Illinois.
The Cardinals never led in the contest as they were able to tie the game up at 1-1 early on and 11-11 heading into the fourth quarter. The Cardinals were outscored 18-2 in the first and fourth quarter of the game.
The goalie,
Jake Allgood scored the first goal of the game for the Cardinals as he launched a 70 yard shot on net as Illinois Wesleyan goalie was up field. That was the Cardinals lone goal in the quarter as they would trail 8-1 heading into the second quarter. The Cardinals would score 4 unanswered goals to start off the second quarter bringing the to 8-5 in favor of the Titans. After the slow start to the game, the men's lacrosse team were only down 4 heading into half with a score of 9-5.
They would continue to inch their way back into the game as
Scott Allgood was able to tie the game up at 11 with a little over 1 minute left in the third quarter. Illinois Wesleyan would score eight unanswered goals to start off the fourth quarter enroute to a 21-12 win.
Riley Bachinski led the team in goals with three and
Scott Allgood has two goals and three assist on the night.
The Cardinals 6-1 (0-1) return to CCIW play Saturday against the University of Dubuque. Game is set to start at 3:30 p.m.
