2021 CoSIDA NCAA Division III Academic All-America Baseball Teams

July 27, 2021 - North Central College baseball student-athlete Luke Lamm has been awarded a selection to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) NCAA Division III Academic All-America Third Team in recognition of continued adherence to the highest standards of excellence in academics as well as athletics.

One of six total pitchers to be so recognized, Lamm became eligible for the All-America ballot by virtue of his selection earlier this month to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Team, which includes all Division III institutions in the states of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Nominees must carry a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 and have achieved at least sophomore academic and athletic standing. The teams are then selected through a vote by CoSIDA's membership, which is comprised of more than 3,000 sports information and athletic communication professionals throughout the United States and Canada. 

An accounting major, Lamm is a three-time Academic All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) selection and was North Central's 2021 Spring Jack Swartz Award recipient.
 
On the field, Lamm was a Fourth Team All-America selection by D3baseball.com, while also earning first team All-Region honors by both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).  Lamm was also named CCIW Pitcher of the Year and was selected First Team All-CCIW.
 
Lamm finished the season ranked second in all of NCAA Division III in wins with 11, while his 11-0 record give him the most wins without receiving a loss among all pitchers nationally.  The 11 wins broke North Central's single-season record, while Lamm also set new single-season marks with 92 strikeouts and 87.2 innings pitched. In just two full seasons in a Cardinal uniform, Lamm already ranks seventh in program history with 17 career victories.

North Central student-athletes have received a total of 41 CoSIDA Academic All-America awards, five of which have been achieved by members of the baseball program. Lamm is the only CCIW representative on this year's Academic All-America Teams.

The Cardinals finished with an overall record of 38-9 in 2021, winning their sixth consecutive CCIW regular-season championship.
