IWLCA Team Academic Awards
IWLCA Academic Honor Roll
July 27, 2021 - For the 11th time in its 12 full seasons of varsity competition, the North Central College women's lacrosse team has been recognized as an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), and a pair of players have been selected to the IWLCA's Academic Honor Roll as well.
A total of 319 collegiate teams met the IWLCA's requirement of a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average to make the All-Academic list, including 151 NCAA Division III programs. North Central is one of four College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) teams to meet the criteria, joined by Carroll University, the University of Chicago and Illinois Wesleyan University.
The Cardinals' Grace Steiner and Berit Vandenbroucke are among 922 student-athletes from 190 Division III institutions to earn a selection to the Academic Honor Roll for this year. To qualify, student-athletes must have achieved junior, senior or graduate student academic status and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater. Both are recognized for the first time.
A neuroscience major, Steiner started all nine of the Cardinals' games this season, scoring 11 goals and tying for the team lead in draw controls (21) and caused turnovers. Vandenbroucke, a double major in exercise science and psychology, also started all nine games and ranked third on the team in scoring with 15 goals.
Members of the North Central program have earned 30 Academic Honor Roll distinctions since beginning varsity play in 2009. A total of 27 CCIW representatives qualified for inclusion this year.
