Naperville, Ill. September 14th, 2021 - The North Central College women's soccer team struggled to connect in its' 1-0 loss to Loras College this evening. The Cardinals competed with passion and heart knowing that they were going up against another tough opponent, in #20 Loras College.

This was the third ranked opponent the women's soccer team has faced off against this season and battled with them throughout the game. After giving up an early goal in the 19th minute of play, the Cardinals did not fold over to the tough Duhawk offense. The Loras offense kept penetrating the North Central defense, but their bend don't break mentally kept the score 1-0 heading into half.

Throughout most of the second half, the women's soccer team possessed the ball and had their chances to tie the game up at one. In the 53rd minute of play Olivia Hurt put up a shot on goal that almost got past the Duhawk goalie. The Cardinal offense would keep their foot on the gas pedal as in the 81st minute of play Sarah Andrey rocketed a kick on goal, which resulted in a corner kick. After missing an opportunity to score on a first corner kick, the women's soccer had a second chance, but the Duhawks caused a turnover and were able to clear the ball.

In a last ditch effort Andrey juked out the Loras defense and found an opening inside the box with a little over five minutes remaining in the game and unleashed on a kick on goal, but was saved by a diving block by Loras goalie, Kyndal Kells.

The Cardinals fall to 2-3-1 on the season and return to action Saturday afternoon as they host Alma College (1-3) at 12 PM.
