Naperville, Ill. September 18th, 2021 - On a hot day in September, the North Central College women's soccer team beats Alma College in the first ever game between the two schools, behind two goals from Elle Sutter

Playing in their third straight home again before hitting the road tomorrow, the Cardinals capped out their home stand with a game against Alma College. Lauren Fischer applied the offensive pressure early on as she just missed out on a goal, in the lower left hand cover that would've given the Cardinals an early 1-0 lead. Shortly after though, Kaitlyn Cannon found teammate Elle Sutter making a move towards the net to give the Cardinals the lead over the Scots.

The Cardinal offense stalled for the time being during the game and Alma College found some rhythm of their own and scored a goal in the 51st minute of action. The defense, led by Fischer and Jordan Boyd, would clamp down on the Scots and would not allow another goal on the day.

Trying to stay away from overtime, the women's soccer team went on the attack, causing turnovers, keeping possession of the ball, and taking their chances with shots on goal.

Alaina Kuhn would make a move past a Scot defender and find Elle Sutter, who would have a wide open net to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead and what proved to be the winner in today's game.

The Cardinals are now 3-3-1 on the season and face off against Knox College at 3 pm in Galesburg, Illinois.
