Memphis, Tenn. (Sept. 17, 2021) - The North Central men's soccer team took down Rhodes College 2-1 on a rainy day inside Mason Field to extend their winning streak to seven games.

The Cardinals faced adversity early as goalkeeper Sid Marquardt received a red card in the 34th minute which would put the Cardinals down one man the remainder of the game. Oliwier Holowinski would come into the game hoping to keep the game tied.

The score remained 0-0 heading into the second half. In the 60th minute, Aleks Aagesen would pass to Herman Hesby who would send a shot off the left post to put the Cardinals up 1-0. In the 75th minute the Lynx would strike back as Nico DeFilippis sent one past Holowinski to tie the game up.

Coming down to the final minutes, Matthew Webley beat a defender and sent a strike to the top right corner just out of the reach of Mitchell Fenton to put the Cardinals back in front. Despite being a man down for most of the game, the defense was dominant once again. The Cardinal defense only allowed nine shots on goal and cut down the Lynxes chances. Holowinski tallied seven saves and earned his first win of the season and Mitchell Fenton tallied two saves and he fell to 3-3-0 on the season.

The Cardinals (7-0-0) are back in action Sunday as they take on Hendrix College. The match is set to start at 12:00 pm inside Mason Field. Click HERE for live coverage of Sunday's game.
