NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 17, 2021) - Extending their winning streak to seven matches, the North Central College women's tennis team displayed their dominance once again as they took down College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) foe Millikin University 7-2 on Friday afternoon at Nike Park.
Alaina Kanthaphixay and 
Hannah Hougland kicked off doubles play with an 8-2 victory as the duo moves to 6-0 on the season. After falling at No. 2 doubles, 
Sydney Sawyer and 
Nina Patience beat their Big Blue counterpart 8-5 to give the Cardinals a 2-1 edge heading into singles play.
Kanthaphixay (No. 4) was the first Cardinal to finish in as she defeated Paige Willer 6-3, 6-0. Millikin won earned their lone singles win at the No. 2 position before Natalie Basset (No. 3) made quick work of her opponent, 6-1, 6-0 to increase North Central's lead. Securing the match was Patience as she scored a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Taylor Milholland at the No. 6 position. Both Sawyer (No. 5) and 
Kaeli Smashey (No. 1) won their respective matches as they both now sit at 5-0 on the year.
The Cardinals (7-0, 4-0 CCIW) will send three singles players and two doubles tandems to Kalamazoo, Mich. on Friday for the three-day Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships.
