WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 18, 2021) – The North Central College men's cross country team dominated the familiar 8-kilometer course at St. James Farm, taking home the team win against all eight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) foes and then some, at the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College in Warrenville, Ill. on Saturday.

Gabe Pommier sat steady for a good portion of the race, letting teammates and runners from Augustana and Carroll pace the lead pack before breaking for the finish line. Pommier stole away with the individual win in a time of 25 minutes and seven seconds. Matt Boelke was just behind Pommier coming in third in a time of 25 minutes and 12.8 seconds.

North Central saw six student-athletes in the top-10 with Julian Higueros (25:22.3), Colin Kachlic (25:30.3), and Matt Jett (25:32.4) coming in fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively. Connor Riss (26:08.7) rounded out the top-10 alongside Nigel Neibel (26:12.1) who finished 11th.

Favoring pack-running, North Central saw 14 student-athletes finish in the top-25.

The Cardinals claimed another successful meet with a low score of 22 points in the 17-team field. The University of Chicago finished in a distant second place with 103 points, followed by Milikin University with 107 points for third, Augustana College's 112 points for fourth, and Carthage College's 115 points for fifth.

North Central will take a short break in action before returning to competition on Oct. 1 in Rock Island, Ill. for the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana College.
