WHITEWATER, Wis. (Sept. 18, 2021) - Facing two ranked opponents on the day, the North Central College women's volleyball team fell to #25 Concordia University Wisconsin and the #11 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater while senior
Kaitlyn Boelter-Eberhardt was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Squaring off against the Falcons for the first time since 2013, both teams went back-and-forth as a kill from
Abbi Barickman knotted the contest at 12 apiece in the opening set. After CUW took a 20-16 advantage, North Central rallied to force a timeout as they closed the gap, 21-20. The Falcons closed out the rest of the set as they earned a set one win, 25-22.
CUW kept the momentum going as they jumped out to a 5-1 lead. After the Cardinals battled back, the Falcons went on an 8-0 run as they led the rest of the way to take the second set, 25-11. A kill from
Katie Little brought the Cardinals within one, 6-5, early in the third set. The Falcons remained on top as North Central took a timeout with the score at 16-14. Boelter-Eberhardt's kill late in the set tied the contest at 23-23. After an attack error from both sides, CUW would prevail in the final set as the Falcons won the set 26-24 and the match, 3-0.
In their second and final match of the day, North Central used a kill from
Emma Happ to bring the score to 8-5. A kill from Boelter-Eberhardt pulled the Cardinals within six, 16-10. The Warhawks would stay on top the rest of the way to secure the first set, 25-14. UWW jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the second set. North Central tried to climb back in it, but it wasn't enough as the Warhawks won the final nine points to win set two, 25-8.
Isabelle Guerrero used her first kill of the third set to give the Cardinals an early lead, 4-3. UWW bounced back to take a 15-10 lead before North Central used a four-point swing to close the gap to two, 16-14. The Cardinals knotted the set late at 22-22, thanks to a UWW attacking error. The Warhawks won the final three points to take the set, 25-22, and the match.
On the day, Boelter-Eberhardt tallied 15 kills followed closely by A. Barickman with 12.
Emily Stallmann posted 26 digs while
Maddi Barickman totaled 25 assists.
