NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 24, 2021) - Earning their fifth win of the season, the North Central College women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Dominican University on Friday night inside of Gregory Arena as the Cardinals held the Stars to just a .057 hitting percentage.
Early in the first set,
Katie Little's kill evened the contest at 7-7. A Stars service error started a four-point swing in favor of the Cardinals to push North Centra;'s lead to three, 13-10. Clawing their way back into the first set, Dominican went on a 7-3 run to bring the score 20-20. North Central responded with five of the next seven points as an
Abbi Barickman kill clinched the opening set, 25-22.
North Central jumped out to a 4-2 advantage thanks to an
Isabelle Guerrero kill, set up by
Maddi Barickman. Following a rally from the Stars, an A. Barickman kill sparked a 7-2 run for the Cardinals to increase the lead to four, 15-11. Again Dominican fought back to tie the second set at 16, but A. Barickman's third kill of the set secured the set win, 25-20. After back-to-back kills from
Amber Vande Hei, North Central found themselves up 7-4 early in the third set. A kill from
Emma Happ pushed the Cardinals lead to 14-8 before North Central controlled the last half of the final set by winning nine of the last ten points to win the set 25-11, and the match, 3-0.
A. Barickman led the way with 12 kills which ties her season-high. Vande Hei and Little each added six kills while
Anna Gawron (19) and M. Barickman (17) led the Cardinals in assists.
Emily Stallmann posted 13 digs over the three sets as North Central hit a season-high .323. Gabija Sinickaite tallied eight kills for Dominican and Aneleen Dunker recorded 11 assists on the night.
