Sept. 21, 2021 - The North Central College men's soccer team extended their winning streak to nine games tonight as they took down the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers 2-0 on a rainy night inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

Just six minutes into the contest, Dane Richardson sent a pass across the middle that found the foot of Herman Hesby who sent one just out of the reach of the Engineers goalkeeper to go up 1-0. After a penalty in the box, Johnny Kraemer stepped up for a penalty kick and sent a strike past the Engineers goalkeeper to extend the lead to two.

The Cardinals were hoping to find  the back of the net once again in the second half and in the 73rd minute Jesus Meza had an opportunity but Michael Trinh made a diving save to shut down the attack.

Sid Marquardt and the Cardinal defense was dominant once again, only allowing seven shots the entire game. Marquardt tallied three saves and earned another shutout while improving his record to 6-0-0. The Engineers goalkeeper, Michael Trinh tallied three saves as he fell to 0-1-0 on the season.

The Cardinals (9-0-0) are back in action on Saturday as they host Elmhurst University in their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) opener. The match is set to start at 6:30 pm inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
