Sept. 25, 2021 - In their first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) game of the year, the North Central College men's soccer team tied the Elmhurst University Blue Jays on a beautiful night inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

The Cardinals were looking to win their tenth game in a row and open up CCIW play with a win. In the ninth minute, Dane Richardson sent a strike to the top left corner but the Blue Jays goalkeeper Noah Reed made a diving save to shut down the scoring attempt.

In the second half the Cardinals were in hopes of finding the back of the net and in the 50th minute, Jaziel Enriquez had an opportunity but his shot found the crossbar and went out of play. The game remained tied through the first overtime but in the 104th minute, Herman Hesby sent a strike to the bottom left corner but Reed was there again to keep the game tied.

The Cardinal defense was dominant once again, only allowing four shots all game with one of them being on net. Sid Marquardt tallied one save and he is 6-0-1 on the season. Reed from Elmhurst tallied 10 saves in the contest as his record is now 3-2-2 on the season.

The Cardinals are back in action tomorrow as they host the Aurora University Spartans in a non-conference matchup. The match is set to start at 7:30 pm inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Click HERE for live coverage of tomorrow's game.
