Naperville, Ill. September 25th, 2021 - The North Central College women's soccer team beats Elmhurst University (4-0)  to open up the College Conference of Illinois of WIsconsin (CCIW) conference play and secures a win on Homecoming.

The Cardinals scored early in the game with a goal by freshman Alaina Kuhn. The goal is Kuhn's first goal of the season and first of her career. Later in the half, Elle Sutter scored on a pass from Sarah Andrey. In the 32nd minute of the game, Andrey gave Sutter a pass that left her wide open and was able to get one past the goalie using her left foot.

While the Cardinals did not score again in the half, the damage had been done as they controlled the ball and thwarted any chances from the Blue Jays (2-4-0, 0-1 CCIW) and carried the 2-0 lead into half.

A second wave of goals came in the second half of the game as Kily Egan found the back of the net for the fourth time this season. The goal came in the 60th minutes as she received a pass from Kaitlyn Cannon to extend the Cardinal lead.

The best goal of the night came off a free kick from the Cardinals as Taylor Smith took the shot from about 35 yards out and laid it up perfectly for Sam Schutte to head it through the back of the net to give the Cardinals the 4-0 lead and eventually win.

Making her first start Riley Lindsey faced ten shots and had to make seven saves on the night. Lauren Fischer, Mady Schmidt, and Emma Goldman all played big roles in getting the shutout.

The Cardinals improved to (6-3-1) Saturday night and are back in action Wednesday night as they take on Hope College on the road. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 pm ET.
