Naperville, Ill. (Sept 29th, 2021) - Facing a strong non-conference opponent in Hope College, the North Central College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to the Flying Dutch on Wednesday evening at Van Andel Soccer Stadium in Holland, Michigan. 

The Cardinal offense tried to get on the board first with a shot by Kaitlyn Cannon that was saved by the Flying Dutch's goalie in the bottom left of the goal. This gave the Hope College offense a fast transition into Cardinal territory and were able to score in the 12th minute of the game to give the Fly Dutch the early one nothing lead. 

Four minutes later the Flying Dutch scored again as Erin Powers snuck one past Riley Lindsey to give Hope the two nothing lead. The Cardinal defense would settle down and lock down the Flying Dutch for the next 50 minutes of game time. 

The Cardinal offense would have their chances to get on the board. In the 53rd minute of game play Aly Crum ripped a shot off on goal that gave the Cardinals a corner kick and an opportunity to score. Off the corner kick Elle Sutter just missed her chance of scoring as she kicked it right into the goalie's hands. 

After another Hope College goal to make it three nothing, the North Central offense did not give up. In the 82nd minute the women's soccer team had another chance to score, but couldn't connect. Katie Huey missed a shot out right of the net and Kily Egan missed a shot out top of the net. 

Lindsey faced 21 shots and tallied ten saves for the Cardinals. 

The Cardinals fall to 6-4-1on the season and return to action Saturday evening as they travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin to take on the Carthage Firebirds at 5pm.
