Women’s Soccer Drops Season Opener to Centre College

DANVILLE, KY. September 4th, 2021 - Playing in their first game in 668 days, the North Central College women's soccer team opened up their season on the road losing to #19 ranked Centre College, to a score of 2-0. 

The Colonels (2-0) controlled the ball for most of the game, out shooting the Cardinals 18-4 throughout the game. North Central goalkeeper, Jordan Boyd, was busy all day facing eight shots in the first half and ten shots in the second half and kept the Cardinals in the game. Boyd made seven saves on the afternoon. 

With the Cardinals struggling to get anything going offensively, while the score was still 1-0 Centre. Midfielder, Olivia Hurt, had an opportunity to tie the game up in the 72nd minute, but Colonel goalie Jonelle Barron made an unbelievable save to keep the score 1-0. 

The women's soccer team will return to action tomorrow morning at 10 AM CT and will face the loser of Emory University and Ohio Northern who play today at 12PM CT.
