DANVILLE, KY. September 5th, 2021 - Playing in back-to-back games in Danville, Kentucky on the campus of Centre College, the North Central women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker to Ohio Northern University , 1-0.
The Cardinals played well in the first half against #18 ranked Ohio Northern, keeping the score knotted up 0-0 heading into the halftime. Ohio Northern got seven shots off in the first half with three of them on goal, while the Cardinals had two shots with both of them being on goal by Sarah Andrey.Â
Andrey and the Cardinals had a chance to break the tie in the 64th minute of play as Andrey just missed a corner kick missing top right of the goal. Shortly after the Cardinals would get another chance, this time Erin Jaskierski took a shot to the upper right of the goal and Ohio Northern goalkeeper Kristy Catrine was able to save it to preserve the tie. The game was still tied up through the 76th minute of play until Ohio Northern forward snuck one past Jordan Boyd. With less than 12 minutes left in the game Ohio Northern would control the ball to run out the clock to seal the win.
The Cardinals fall to 0-2 on the season and return to action Wednesday night at 7 PM against Illinois Institute of Technology.Â
