Chicago, Ill. September 8th, 2021 - Battling a non-conference foe, on a beautiful night in the city of Chicago, the North Central College women's soccer battled back to settle for a tie against Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), 2-2.

The Cardinals offense had been slow to start the season, having not scored a goal through two and a half games until Sara Sheridan received a unbelievable pass from Aly Crum to tie the game up in the 71st minute of the game at 1-1. The tie wouldn't last long for the Cardinals as IIT answered back with a goal of their own to take the lead just minutes later.

The Cardinals went on the attack in the final minutes of the game by pushing the ball up field and taking more chances on the net to try and score a goal before regulation was up. With key substitutions and aggressive game play, Kily Egan netted a goal off a IIT foul, which helped set up the goal.

The game would head to overtime all tied up at two a piece. Elle Sutter had a chance in the 99th minute to send the Cardinals home with a win, but IIT goalie Hailey Flannagan made a diving save in the bottom left corner to preserve the tie in the game. That would be the closest chance the Cardinals would get for the win as the game ended in a tie, 2-2.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday against the Spartans of Aurora University. The game is set to start at 12 PM inside the Spartan Athletic Park in Aurora. To watch the game or to follow through live stats please visit our website.
