Sept. 4, 2021 - Opening defense of its first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship in dominant fashion, the North Central College women's tennis team ran over the Carroll University Pioneers, 9-0, at Benet Academy.

The Cardinals (4-0) won their 10th straight CCIW regular-season match and posted their fourth consecutive win over Carroll. Alaina Kanthpahixay and Hannah Hougland scored an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Natalie Bassett and Kaeli Smashey cruised to an 8-3 victory at No. 2 and MIkayla Edquiban and Sydney Sawyer won by an 8-2 count at No. 3.

The same group swept the six singles matches, with Hougland, Kanthaphixay and Sawyer improving to 3-0 in the early season. 

North Central travels to face Illinois Wesleyan University Wednesday. Competition at the Beadles-Morse Tennis Courts is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
