BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Sept. 8, 2021) - Competing in their second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) dual of the season, the North Central College women's tennis team dominated from start to finish by defeating Illinois Wesleyan University 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of
Hannah Hougland and
Alaina Kanthaphixay cruised to an 8-0 victory while
Sydney Sawyer and
Katie McGraw earned their first win of the year as a duo at No. 2 doubles, 8-3.
Nina Patience and
Kayla McSweeney secured a win by forfeit at the No. 3 position.
In singles play,
Kaeli Smashey earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 position for her second win of the year. Hougland,
Natalie Bassett, Patience, and McSweeney each rolled to wins at their respective positions to secure the win for North Central. The Cardinals (5-0) increased their win-streak against the Titans to five in a row while winning their 11th consecutive CCIW match.
They visit Wheaton College on Tuesday evening for their third straight conference match of the season. The match is set to begin at 5:00 PM.
