RIVER FOREST, Ill. (Jan. 26, 2022) - The North Central College men's volleyball team claimed another victory on the road Wednesday as they took down Concordia University Chicago in a clean 3-0 win.

The Cardinals battled the Cougars in the first set with neither team straying more than two points ahead until the final three points of the match where a kill by Jeremy Cardenas rattled the Cougars drawing two attack errors to take the first set 25-21.

The second set saw a .444 hitting percentage from the Cardinals as Cardenas tallied six additional kills while Jared Moser posted a service ace early on and three kills to surge the Cardinals in another 25-21 set win.

Falling to the Cougars 0-2 early in set three, the Cardinals looked to Moser with a kill and a service ace to take the lead 3-2 and never looked back. Never giving up more than two consecutive points, North Central looked to clinch the 3-0 match win as they rallied for a .531 hitting percentage in set three. Freshman Austin Scott came in hot with six kills total, with two consecutive kills securing the 25-17 victory.

As a team, the Cardinals posted 45 kills—led by Moser with 12—and 41 assists, 36 of which came from Nealon. Ben Williams and Cardenas also saw double-digit kill numbers tallying 10 and 11, respectively. Moser posted 10 digs on the evening followed by Parker Nelson with eight.

For Concordia, Luke Vozenilek led the Cougars with nine kills while Tyler Holubek racked up 18 assists.

North Central hosts #5 Benedictine University for their home opener this Friday, Jan. 28 inside Gregory Arena. The competition time is set for 7 p.m.
