NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 15, 2022) - Earning their third straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Title outright, the North Central College women's tennis team defeated Wheaton 7-2 in their final match of the fall as they improved to 13-0 overall and 8-0 in conference play.

The Cardinals' No. 1 doubles team of Kaeli Smashey and Natalie Bassett secured a hard-fought 8-6 win with Abigail Penados and Kensington Payne taking an 8-0 win at No. 2. Completing the sweep was Nina Patience and Mikayla Edquiban who won 8-2 at the No. 3 spot.

Clinching the victory for North Central was Payne who earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4, and Patience at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Penados won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 while Bassett posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles.

This marks the 24th straight CCIW regular season win for the Cardinals over the past three seasons. They return to action in the spring as they host Hope College on March 3rd.
