DECATUR, Ill. (Oct. 25, 2022) - Heading to Decatur to begin their 2022-23 season, the North Central College swimming and diving teams faced Millikin University and Illinois College in a double dual inside of the Decatur Family YMCA Pool.
The women fell to Millikin 27-150 and Illinois 37-151 while the men lost to the Big Blue, 27-149, and the Blueboys, 46-100.
On the women's side, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Taylin Lemke, Abigail Anderson, Scarlett Schuth, and Victoria Robinson turned in the Cardinals' best finish as they posted a time of 1:54.33 to earn second place. Anderson took third place in the 200-yard IM by swimming a 2:39.18. In the 200-yard freestyle, Robinson also secured a third-palce finish with a time of 2:13.32. Lemke finished in fifth place for the longest event of the day, the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:56.71
The men's 200-yard medley relay of Ben Laurich, Chris Rakos, Gavin Sheehan, and Matthew Strong took third place with a time of 1:55.79 to open the day for the men's. Sheehan took third place in the 200-yard IM (2:29.04) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.09).
Laurich went 2:11.64 in the 200-yard freestyle while taking fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (57.96).
They head to Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday for the Halloween Invite. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. inside Fort Natatorium.
