ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Oct. 26, 2022) - Completing regular season play, the North Central College women's soccer team drew even with the Augustana College Vikings 1-1 at Thorson-Lucken Field Wednesday night.

Despite a scoreless first half, North Central's defense deterred Augustana from taking any shots while the Cardinals put up 11. Augustana turned it up slightly in the second half taking four shots total but that proved just enough for Lexi Dominguez to put the Vikings ahead with a solo goal in the 81st minute. 

North Central answered back in the 87th minute as a Cardinal corner kick went long but was recovered, allowing Ellie Lochbaum to connect with Elle Sutter for Sutter's 13th goal of the season to draw the score even once more. The Cardinals put up eight shots in the second half but were unable to break away from the Vikings enough to secure the clean win. 

Sutter led the Cardinals in shots with five, followed by Sarah Andrey with four. Jordan Boyd recorded three saves in tonight's contest putting her season total at 48. 

North Central (11-1-5, 4-0-4 CCIW) owns the No. 2 spot in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) while Augustana (9-5-4, 3-2-3 CCIW) has secured the No. 4 role for the CCIW Tournament beginning this Saturday. 

North Central kicks off tournament play on Wednesday, Nov. 2 as they host a CCIW semifinal matchup. Game time is set for 8:15 p.m. inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium versus the winner of Saturday's Wheaton College vs. Carthage College quarterfinal game.
