Naperville, Ill. (Nov. 10th, 2022) - Â In the second conference dual of the season, the North Central College men's wrestling program cruises past the Wheaton College Thunder for their 36th consecutive conference dual meet win, which dates back to 2017.Â
Julian Valtierrez got the Cards off to a strong start winning the first match of the night by a Major Decision (13-5) over Wheaton's Anthony Zamora. 2021 National Champion Robbie Precin won by tech fall (19-4) in his first CCIW match of the year over Wheaton's Brendan Johnston.Â
The Cardinals would drop the 141 pound match, but we would win the next six out of seven matches.Â
Next, Javen Estrada would win by fall over Cale Coppess, Alex Villar would follow that up with a decision (10-3) over Cade Zeamer. Cole Cervantes won his match with a major decision (15-5) over Garrett Boyd and made the overall score in the dual 22-3 in favor of the Cardinals.Â
Joseph Jens would win his match at 174-pounds by decision (10-5) over Jacob Kraker.
Payton Geigner won his match with an impressive tech fall (18-0) over Wheaton's Matthew Durbin. We would drop the 197-pound match and would follow that up with a huge win by Fall from
Robby Bates in the 285-pound match over Robert Osborn to give the Cardinals the 36-9 win over Wheaton.
The North Central College men's wrestling team returns to the mats on Saturday, November 19th, as they travel to Wisconsin to compete in the CUW Open at 9am.Â
